Temple Golf Club

Hurley, nr Maidenhead, Berkshire, SL6 5LH
Course Description:

Temple is a traditional private members' golf club and is something of a hidden gem. The Club is located in the Thames Valley and lies in a triangle formed by Marlow to the north, Maidenhead to the south and Henley to the East; and it is within 5 minutes of the M4 and M40 motorways. The golf course is beautifully situated in unspoilt landscape and enjoys extensive panoramic views overlooking the River Thames. Temple has a relatively small membership and even with visitors and golfing societies the course is rarely overcrowded.

Throughout the years Temple has built a reputation for representing all that is good about golf and the Club is respected for the part it has played in furthering the game. Temple is an ideal course, undulating but not unduly tiring, and one where a game of golf can be enjoyed in picturesque and tranquil surroundings. Many visitors, both from the UK and overseas, return time and again to play and enjoy this lovely course.

6,266 yards in length and with a Par of 70, the golf course is layed out on chalk downland and hence is free draining and less affected by adverse weather conditions than many others. It has a challenging and interesting course layout that is difficult enough to test the low handicap player, but friendly enough to encourage those with higher handicaps, and on no two consecutive days are golfing conditions the same.

Built in 1909, the original clubhouse is still in use today. A number of extensions have been added over the years in order to enlarge the facilities, which as well as changing rooms include bar, dining room and a further function room in the sun lounge. The clubhouse sits high up overlooking the course, the River Thames and the Chilterns beyond and provides a wonderful setting for a quiet drink, a snack or a meal. The Clubhouse is charming, attractive and comfortable and the Club prides itself on providing a friendly and efficient service in a relaxed atmosphere and convivial surroundings.

With its comprehensive selection of golf balls, clothes, shoes, golf balls, waterproofs and clubs, the Pro Shop at Temple Golf Club is perhaps one of the best stocked in the area. It is also part of the largest buying group in the country and this significant advantage is reflected in the highly competitive pricing. You can always rely on knowledgeable, friendly and professional staff - and whilst there is never any compromise on quality, providing top value is always the aim.

A round of golf at Temple is a must for the discerning golfer. If you have not played at Temple before, then a visit is thoroughly recommended. You will not be disappointed and a warm welcome awaits you. We feel sure that your visit will provide you with an enjoyable and successful day.
